Click on any of the pictures to make them larger. Enjoy! | On the backside of the building facing the McDonald's parking lot is a mural by a different artist whose name is not evident. I love the expressions of the people in or leaving the store because of all the animals on the loose. It is kind of comical! It appears that a section has been blacked out. That is sad, as I imagine it was another character due to the shadow. |
Burbank Scales 'N' Tails boasts two murals. The one on the windows across the front is an aquarium scene by an artist named Ana. You can find these artworks in the little strip mall between Olive and Verdugo. The business address is 1720 Verdugo Ave.

For the first time I've gone out of my way to look for an artwork. I had a local police officer tell me about a cow on top of a building near Lake and Verdugo, so I went in search of it today. I found it at 156 W. Verdugo Ave. on the business offices of Market City Caffe. The cow has been around for quite some time, first on display at the Pasadena restaurant then several years ago mooved to this location. At this time I don't know the name of the artist. The design on the cow is ornate and astronomical, and there are scientific math equations on the udder!
Today the new Memorial Field at John Burroughs High School was dedicated. This is the main entrance on the corner of Verdugo and Parish. When I was told the sculpture represented a homecoming, I imagined something completely different! However, this touching sculpture by Shiela Cavalluzzi is an excellent image to convey the true meaning of Memorial Field. This thin little family can be seen on the corner of Buena Vista and Verdugo in front of the Family Resource Center and beside the Mary Alice O'Conner Family Center. It is such an expressive sculpture, you can see the concern in the parent's faces, and the care in their body language. I'm still searching to find out the name of the artist and the title of the piece. Below is a bas relief plaque that is located near the doors of the family center, with a likeness of "Burbank's Own Fairy Godmother," Mary Alice O'Conner to whom the building is dedicated. The address of the building says 401 North Buena Vista although it faces Verdugo Ave.
